You Might Be Missing Updates On Facebook

Posted on October 8th, by Kim Randall in Facebook Tips, Social Media, Social Media Tips. No Comments

Facebook has gone and done it again… They changed the way the newsfeed reacts to normal usage. One of the most frustrating things we’ve noticed is that Facebook toggles back to showing what they believe to be the “Top News” which could be as ridiculous as a post that one of your friends commented on that had received a ton of engagement. Now this is great for brands and individuals that are creating engaging posts, but it’s horrible when you’re looking to be updated with the most recent posts from pages and friends. A lot gets lost this way and although it was similar to this before, Facebook’s toggle to “Most Recent” seemed to stay and it didn’t revert back to “Top News” with every refresh of the page.

Here’s the easiest way to see the most recent content your connections … Read More »

Creating Content For Social Media Success

Posted on September 25th, by Kim Randall in SEO, Social and Search, Social Media, Social Media Tips. No Comments

Our day began as it usually does, hustling to get content up for client accounts on Facebook, checking Twitter, making sure social ads are performing and grabbing sips of coffee in between page loads. The difference with today is that it also started with a follow up call with a client. We were discussing his social media progress, report status and the very important OTHER word that starts with an S… SEO. “Is this something you guys handle?” we were asked. Of course it is. In fact, a social media campaign

that includes a robust SEO strategy is huge in overall branding success online so long as your goal is to push people to a website, page or the like. So yeah… We can handle that, BUT we need something from you. We need more … Read More »

Facebook Updates and Changes Contest and Promotion TOS

Directly from Facebook’s small business blog:

It’s now Easier to Administer Promotions on Facebook
We’ve updated our Pages Terms in order to make it easier for businesses of all sizes to create and administer promotions on Facebook. Here’s what Page administrators need to know:
We’ve removed the requirement that promotions on Facebook only be administered through apps
Now, promotions may be administered on Page Timelines and in apps on Facebook. For example, businesses can now:

Collect entries by having users post on the Page or comment/like a Page post

Collect entries by having users message the Page

Utilize likes as a voting mechanism

As before, however, businesses cannot administer promotions on personal Timelines.
Accurate tagging is required in promotions
In order to maintain the accuracy of Page content, our Pages Terms now prohibit Pages from tagging or encouraging people to tag themselves in content that they are not actually depicted in. So, for instance:

It’s … Read More »

Social Media Tips For #FWConf13 Attendees

Posted on July 18th, by Kim Randall in Social Media, Social Media Events, Social Media Tips. 2 comments

If you’re like us then you must be super excited for the start of the first annual Food and Wine Conference in Orlando. Since this conference has a strong Social Media focus we thought we would share some tips to help you get the most out of the event both offline and online.

Know your Social Media Limits

Twitter seems to be the most limiting platform in regards to updates. They limit image updates (fed from Instagram, twitpic or directly through Twitter) to 30 per day. You also need to be careful not to land yourself in Twitter Jail. Twitter’s way of disabling your account for a while because you’ve either Tweeted more than 100 Tweets in an hour OR Tweeted more than 1,000 Tweets in a 24 hour period.

Follow The Event Hashtag

The official event hashtag is #FWConf13. You can use dashboards … Read More »

Is That Social Media Update Relevant To Your Brand?

Coming up with a new update to post every day can become extremely difficult at times. Weekly specials stay the same week after week and your connections eventually get bored seeing such repetitive posts. Can you blame them? How bored would you get if you saw the same post from your favorite restaurant day after day after day?

What to do…. What to do?!

Well I guess you could start posting about local news. That works, right?

It does work, on occasion especially with breaking news, happy stories and must know updates, but don’t turn your business social media platforms  into local news media streams. There’s a reason why we have local news.

You could start posting cat pictures.

Why not?! Cats live on the Internet so they might as well make a home on your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, right? Once again…. It works … Read More »

Happy Second Birthday To Us!

Posted on May 16th, by Kim Randall in KiMedia Strategies News. No Comments

This time last year KiMedia Strategies was dealing with just losing their largest client due to budget cuts. It was one of the worst experiences to go through, yet a learning experience that made us stronger in the end. With only a handful of clients the spring of 2012 was rough and it wasn’t until June that everything began looking up. It was in June that our dear friends over at Tropik Media made a suggestion that turned into an introduction to some local Beef ‘O’ Brady’s restaurants and then like magic KiMedia Strategies found its path once again.

Why am I telling you this? I have always been 100% transparent online and although most companies focus on the positive, you rarely ever hear the struggles especially around the company birthday. I think… no… I know that the struggles and hardships … Read More »
