Our day began as it usually does, hustling to get content up for client accounts on Facebook, checking Twitter, making sure social ads are performing and grabbing sips of coffee in between page loads. The difference with today is that it also started with a follow up call with a client. We were discussing his social media progress, report status and the very important OTHER word that starts with an S… SEO. “Is this something you guys handle?” we were asked. Of course it is. In fact, a social media campaign

that includes a robust SEO strategy is huge in overall branding success online so long as your goal is to push people to a website, page or the like. So yeah… We can handle that, BUT we need something from you. We need more content.

Hmmm content?! Why is so so much content needed?

  • Constantly creating new content bulks up your website.
  • Gives us more to work with on the various social media channels.
  • Gives us the opportunity to hone into various targeted audiences.
  • Fresh content allows us to play on current engaging trends and gauge them towards your business.
  • Written content in the form of an article or blog post can sometimes be broken down into several mini posts, quotes, text images for photo sharing and possibly even video content.
  • …and the number one reason – because without content your social media strategist will be left to scour the Internet in hopes of finding comparable content to keep your social media sites up to date and flowing.

A Few Ideas For Great Shareable Content

  • Posts that give tips…. kinda like this one 🙂
  • Inspirational and motivational content – success stories, interviews etc…
  • Company culture – what’s happening in the office? Bdays, weddings, funding, new employees, babies? This stuff is shareable!
  • Case studies
  • Feature articles – maybe you’re featuring a client, companies or services that are useful to your target audience
  • Resource lists
  • Images if your business is a visual one – food industry, photography, fashion, products. THESE ARE SHAREABLE!

Tips When Creating Shareable Content

  • Keep the content relevant
  • Keep the language at a high school level and if you have to use words that some may not understand, provide an explanation or link to an article that explains it in further detail. The last thing you want to do is have someone have to go to Google to see what something means.
  • Don’t just grab any ol’ image off the Internet. Make sure you’re keeping it legal!
  • Make your title catchy, shareable and around 100 characters for Twitter sharing.
  • If you can tie your post to a personal story, do it. People love to catch a glimpse into someone else’s life.
  • Length doesn’t matter as long as you provide value to the post. It could be a paragraph or 10, just make sure it’s awesome!

Well that’s it. That’s all we have on this topic for now, but hey… Thanks for dropping by to check this article out. If you have a tip to add to this be sure to leave it in the comments below.
