The Strategy Around Engagement

“Good morning”, “How are you?”, “Good evening” – From the time we wake up until the moment we go to sleep we are social. We interact socially throughout the day in many different ways. Maybe it’s through our body language by waving hello to someone across the street or over the phone talking with a customer, or perhaps it’s on the Internet in status updates, blog comments, videos or Tweets.

Point is, we are social beings – we thrive in our environments because of the social experiences we have daily.

This is why we  are so passionate about educating businesses and individuals about engagement vs. promotion on the Social Web via our Be Social campaign. In no way do we believe that by simply saying “Good morning” that your company will find immediate success, but we do know that without these socially engaging conversations your target audience (aka consumers) will be less likely to follow your brand Online and even less likely to care about what you have to offer.

The Engagement Strategy

Every business is different which makes each social strategy slightly unique. These strategies need to have a solid foundation – a foundation that is engaging and built on real, social relationships because everything done Online via the Social Web will involve conversations. If you’re thinking you will succeed by simply pushing content and promoting your sales, products and/ or services – think again! We live in a different world, a world where we can easily ignore promotions which is why building that social relationship will be the key to all Social Media campaigns.

What About Research?

Of course there needs to be research when it comes to all Social Media campaigns. You need to know what’s been done and hasn’t worked, where you think your target audience is, and how to get in front of new eyeballs. It doesn’t hurt to know what your competition has been up to Online either, but while you’re doing this there is still the need for engagement.

If you can’t be social, there’s no sense in using Social Media and everyone needs to be taking advantage of the platforms available to us today!

…. and this is why we believe in our #BeSocial campaign because without ‘Social’ it’s just ‘Media’.
