Google+ Makes Business Page Changes You Should Be Aware Of

Posted on March 6th, by Kim Randall in Featured, Google+, Social Media, Social Media Tips. No Comments

Google+ Pages just changed, again. Here are some changes that you need to know about.

1. Your logo/ picture avatar has moved and is no longer square shaped. Does your image look silly in a circle shape?

2. The cover photo has changed in size. Your cover photo might need to be changed as well due to the new location of the avatar image.

3. The sidebar no longer contains the “Circle the page” section.

4. The “Circle the page” area is now on the right side of the cover photo (remember this when designing your cover photo).

5. The +1 button is also in the cover photo area so design accordingly.

6. The “About” section has an entirely new look and feel (so do the photos and videos, just not as drastic).

Have you noticed any other note-worthy changes? Let … Read More »

What Small Businesses Can Learn From The NBC Hit Show, Escape Routes

Posted on April 18th, by Kim Randall in Featured. No Comments

Escape Routes is a tv show that airs on NBC Saturday evenings. The show features 6 teams of 2 that compete against each other to earn points and to ultimately win the entire challenge. The difference between this and something like MTV Road Rules is that they are also harnessing the power of Social Media in the competitions. Some competitions are physical and timed while others involve votes from “virtual” team mates.

One of the teams, Ross and Brett, are YouTube vloggers and have already built a network prior to this competition giving them a head start when it comes to the virtual team mates. Other teams aren’t happy and find this to be extremely unfair. I loved listening to Brett and Ross explain why they should create a “strategy” only to get the response of “I don’t have … Read More »

B2B Social Media Case Study

Posted on April 26th, by Kim Randall in Featured. No Comments

It’s no secret that Melco is a client of mine. I began working on their Online Social Media campaign at the beginning of November (2010). Melco already had a Twitter, Facebook and YouTube account as well as their website and very own niche based Social Media site, but they were launching a campaign for their new Direct to Garment Print technology (G2) and that’s where I came in. I was asked to come up with a strategy that we ultimately named the “Guerilla Social Media Campaign”.

In the first month of the campaign we hit the social platforms  heavily, cleaning up the pages, tracking, targeting, listening and engaging. We used these platforms to see what the target audience was interested in and have began the process of building a very tight niche of connections. Connections that have become evangelists for Melco’s … Read More »

So You’ve Hired A Social Media Strategist…

Posted on March 29th, by Kim Randall in Featured. No Comments

The time finally came for you to hire someone to help your company find their way throughout the interweaving paths on the Interwebs. You researched your Strategist, asked all of the right questions, connected on their Social Platforms and you feel very comfortable with your decision. Chances are your Strategist has already begun putting together a strategy and along with that strategy is going to be a list of things needed. These items could be logo and other design work, company bio, company resources, list of employees using specific Social Media sites as well as other items.

Your first reaction might be to come back to the email a little later and gather all of the needed info. Maybe  you are in a meeting or maybe you aren’t even at the office. Either way there is a huge chance that this … Read More »

Don’t Get Screwed When Hiring a Social Media Company

Posted on March 16th, by Kim Randall in Featured. No Comments

With Social Media being one of the largest growing industries, there are many companies that are being taken advantage of. KiMedia Strategies encourages anyone looking to hire someone to handle their Social Media campaigns to do their homework.

Google IS your best friend here.

Searching For A Social Media Strategist or Social Media Company

1. Always Google the company or person before calling.

Googling can bring up the uber good of the company and/or person, but it can also dig up some serious dirt that you are going to wish you knew.

2. Is their Twitter account locked or open?

Why would any company lock their Twitter account, ESPECIALLY one that does Social Media?

3. If you’re able to see their Twitter account, are they social or just pushing content around?

Unfortunately, the amount of engagement they have within their own personal and professional platforms will probably be the type of engagement … Read More »
