Here are 10 social media tips that are easy enough for anyone to immediately implement into their overall social media strategy.

  1. Be authentic – stop trying to be someone or something that you’re not.
  2. Be consistent – a Pin on Monday followed up by a Tweet on Saturday isn’t consistent. Have a posting schedule and stick with it. For 90% of our clients we post Mon-Fri on all social media platforms, more than once typically. Some, like restaurants, get a lot of weekend love too.
  3. Experiment – The only way you’re going to know if something is going to be successful online is to actually do it. It’s OK if the experiment is a bust, it’s easy to move on to the next idea.
  4. Schedule – Seriously. This is the ONLY way we are able to do what we do for so many clients. We schedule in down times, end of the day, weekends that way we can focus on our next tip….
  5. Engage in real time – Have real convos throughout the day with people. People like to be social…that is why they use social media, right?
  6. Pay attention to your analytics – how are you really going to know if something is working if you aren’t looking at your stats. See what gets people clicking and engaging and replicate it…don’t be completely repetitive, but figure out a way to continue the same tactic.
  7. Watch the trends – Knowing what’s trending typically puts you ahead of your competition. They’re not getting creative with their strategies. They’re probably still using the “post to Facebook and let it feed to Twitter” strategy as their only social media plan. You got this!
  8. Show your personal side – whether it’s pics of your employees and co-workers or pics of you and your family, share that. People like to see what real life looks like for business professionals and businesses alike
  9. Crop your profile pic properly – if you’re one of those brands that has an oversized logo for a profile pic, fix that. It’s such an easy way to make your brand look 100xs more professional.
  10. Follow new people – hate to break it to you…they usually will not come if you simply post. You do have to do a little leg work. There are so many great tools that can help you with this, Tweepi is a good one that we love to use.
