Dick Greco is four-time mayor of Tampa. During his first two terms, from 1967 – 1974, he calmed racial tension, brought an end to a century-old illegal gambling ring, cleaned up some of Tampa’s most blighted neighborhood and was the first Tampa to lure major corporations from other big cities to our city.

During his second two terms, from 1995-2003, he again recruited numerous corporations and billions of dollars in developments to the city. He also saved a decaying Ybor City and turned it into a shopping and residential destination, saved the Tampa Convention Center from financial troubles by convincing the Marriot to build a hotel in downtown, rebuilt the trolley, helped keep the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa, and oversaw the development of the Channelside District.

Much of what defines Tampa today was made possible through Dick Greco’s efforts as mayor.
